"Row Houses" is an photograph of the architecture of the French Quarter. Houses like these are the staple of the French Quarter. Commonly called "double shotguns". Each side of these houses have a hallway that runs the length of the house from front to back. It's said you could shoot a shotgun in the front door through the house and out the back door! There are single shotgun's that only have a hallway down one side of these houses. The reason for this type of construction is simple. Ventilation. With no air conditioning back in the day, this makes for a cooler house!
